Week 7 - The struggles by Abby

My stomach lurched as the test paper was laid out in front of me; I widened my eyes as the questions looked like they were gibberish. I looked around trying to read other students expressions; but their faces were stiff, either they knew this, or they didn’t. My hands were shaking, I didn’t have any idea what to do. Picking up my pencil I read the questions carefully; trying to answer them, but it wasn’t working very well. After a few minutes; I handed my sheet in, I hope my brain has worked.
The next day our results came; I got an average, and I thought “well what a start.”

Week 7 - The hardest run by Mac

I was winning my 100 metre race in the olympics against Usain Bolt, but I turned to see him beside me and I thought “well what a start” ,there was 75 metres to go and we were neck and neck for a lot of it till the 25 metre mark when he just bolted straight past me at pace I will never reach even in my dreams and he won the race by 3 seconds faster than anyone else but at the end he said that it was the hardest race he had ever ran.

Week 7 - the big race by Jasmine

3,2,1 go the clappers went and I began to ran. I was was in the school cross country and had been training since the start of the year and now it was july. As I jumped over a creek I thought to myself I might actually have a chance of winning this year because there was nobody in sight so I must be at the front. I whizzed round corners and jumped over little creeks but finally I sore the finish line and I couldn't see any other people from my race as I sprinted to the finish everyone was clapping and cheering, the lady gave me a block with the number 1 on it I was so happy I had actually come first for once.

Week 7 - the Journey by Danny

I was anxious, My parents, one of my younger brothers and I were sitting in the domestic terminal of JFK airport in New York, while my 6 year old brother, Will was playing in the gaming arcade.
“All passengers on flight 168 to London please make your way to gate 7”.
” Will” Mum called out, “ It's time to board the airplane”. Will was scared slightly, while his brother Josh had been on one for a school trip, Will had never set foot inside an airplane.

Will was just getting used to the plane when the speakers crackled to life.

“Sorry to bother any passengers but we have just had a bomb warning and we will need to search all passengers and their luggage,  and I thought,”well what a start”.

Week 7 - A New Place by Sophia

I was feeling anxious being so high in the sky. I had never flown on an airplane before and my first time was to move to a different country. I had lived in New Zealand my whole life, but my mum got a job in America, so I was on my way across the globe. I mean sure it's sad leaving school and all but it isn't that bad because I didn't really have many friends. Once we reached the airport I was rushed to and fro. I fell to the ground and smashed my face onto the cold concrete floor and broke my nose. I thought to myself “what a start”.

Week 7 - A Bad Start by Zoe

Whilst in our primary schooling years  the thought of beginning intermediate school is sometimes overbearing, although for most of us, we remember the time fondly and look back on the time when it just all seemed like a big adventure.  For me coming back as a teacher nothing much changed.

After the first bell had rung I watched students gradually filtre into the  room.  As they began to take their seats, I sensed a strange mood in the atmosphere.  I gazed around the room, every child was glued to their cell phone only occasionally glancing up at the slightest noise.  I just sighed and I thought “ well what a start”.

Week 7 - First Job by Charlotte

As I walk into the office building I am politely greeted by the doorman who shows me to the main office where I will be getting interviewed for a job I have applied for. Beauty and makeup is what I am applying for. When I enter the room I see a stiff looking lady sitting wide eyed in a black leather chair behind a timber desk. I sit down on the stool in front of the desk and the interview begins. When I leave the building I am bursting with happiness because I got my first job in the makeup department! And I thought “well what a start”....
